The drug is a phenylacetylindole and acts as an agonist at the CB1 and CB2 receptors. It has a concentration of approximately 11 nM at CB1 and approximately 33 nM at CB2.
JWH-250 came onto the market several years after its first written mention. The first discovery of it was made in May 2009 by German police, who found the drug in a herbal mixture intended for smoking.
It was also found in powders and mixtures sold over the internet to researchers in Japan. These samples contained 77-165 mg per product.
Due to the way it was sold, people most likely came into contact with JWH-250 without knowing it.
