Fentanyl powder is a potent synthetic opioid analgesic similar to morphine, but 50 to 60 times stronger. It is a Category II prescription drug and is typically used to treat patients with severe pain or to relieve pain following surgery. It is also occasionally used to treat patients with chronic pain who do not respond well to other opioids. In its pharmaceutical form, fentanyl is sold under names such as Actiq, Duragesic, and Sublimaze. Trade names for fentanyl or fentanyl-bound heroin include Apache, China Girl, China White, Dance Fever, Friend, Goodfella, Jackpot, Murder 8, TNT, and Tango and Cash.
