Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) is a synthetic drug that alters mood and perception (attention to surrounding objects and conditions). Chemically similar to both stimulants and psychoactive substances, it produces feelings of heightened energy, euphoria, emotional warmth, and distorted physical and worldly perception.
Originally popular in the nightclub scene and at all-night dance parties ("raves"), the drug now affects a wider range of people, who commonly refer to it as "raft" or "molly."
